On August 29th, 2021, Kanye West dropped one of the most advertised and anticipated albums of the past decade. Titled Donda after his mother who passed away in 2007, Kanye released the album with a total of 27 songs with features from A-list celebrities. The list includes Travis Scott, Lil Yachty, Playboi Carti, Young thug, Don Toliver, Ariana Grande, and much more. With an initial release date of July 24th, the album was over a month late, with Kanye blaming his parent record company Universal Music Group, with the unscheduled release date a month later.
The album came during one of the most publicized feuds of recent time, with Kanye and Drake being very outspoken on their dislike for one another. Not surprisingly, Drake then released his album “Certified Lover Boy” just a few days after the Donda drop. This feud has taken many unexpected turns throughout the years, and many are anticipating what is to come when Kanye drops Donda 2, the sequel to Donda.
The news broke of the album drop on January 26th, when Kanye posted on his Instagram the supposed album cover for Donda 2 with the date 2/22/2022, captioning the photo “DONDA 2 COMING 2 22 22”. Along with mentioning that the album will be executively produced by Future, one time Grammy winner and four-time nominee. The album has drawn much anticipation in the week it has been announced. Fans can expect the list of features to be much like the Donda list, with West’s reputation as one of the greatest to ever do it, he is able to have A-list features throughout his albums. Now, with the album supposedly dropping within this month, fans are not only waiting to hear one of the GOAT’s music, but waiting for a potential Drake response as well.
