It’s Friday and you know what that means, time for some new music! Dash Radio has the inside scoop on everything that released today.
Cardi B released her new single, “Up” today. The 28-year-old star announced the single’s release just earlier this week and thanked fans for their continued support through a tough time in her life. Along with the announcement, Cardi B tweeted “I want to thank all my fans and everyone that genuinely supports me. I been preparing for this week for over a month. Unfortunately, I’m not feeling how I wanted to feel today. I’m very happy that you guys are happy and just know I do this cause ya go so hard for me.”
Foo Fighters release their new album, Medicine at Midnight, today. This is the alternative rock band’s tenth studio album, whose release was originally delayed because of COVID-19. We can expect pop influences and a somewhat unexpected upbeat sound from the album. Three songs off of Medicine at Midnight were released earlier this year, and the end of 2020, including “Shame Shame,” “No Son Of Mine,” and “Waiting On A War.”
Oakland native G-Eazy came back on the scene today with his latest single “Provide”, featuring Chris Brown & Mark Morrison. Mark Morrison is known for his classic “Return of the Mack”, which was sampled on G-Eazy’s “Provide”. In other hip hop news, Slim 400 dropped Bomptton, including 12 new tracks with features from RJmrLA, Celly Ru, Jackboy & much more.
On Wednesday, Julien Baker released “Favor” off of her upcoming album Little Oblivions. The track features Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus, bringing the three musicians’ band, Boygenius, back together. A couple of other tracks off of Little Oblivions, which is set to release February 26th, have been released including “Faith Healer,” and “Hardline.” “Favor” was said to be recorded in Nashville, along with a few other tracks by Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus, so we may expect some more music by the trio in the future.
The Weeknd released his hits compilation album The Highlights today. The album includes 18 of the artist’s top songs, including “In Your Eyes,” “Can’t Feel My Face,” and “Starboy.” Check out Dash’s full article on the compilation album’s announcement here.
Yesterday, Vampire Weekend released an EP called 40:42, which includes two renditions of their song “2021” off of their 2019 album Father of the Bride. The EP’s title is representative of the length of the album, 40 minutes and 42 seconds. The two new recordings were by Jazz musician Sam Gendel and electronic rock band Goose. “2021 (in the space between two pieces of wood)” reimagined by Sam Gendel can be found here. “2021 (January 5th, to be exact)” reimagined by Goose can be found here.
