Kendrick Lamar Breaks Silence On Why He’ll Never Release GKMC 2

Kendrick Lamar finally broke his silence in an interview for i-D. The Compton MC talks about why he will never do a “Good Kid M.A.A.D. City 2” and more with Baby Keem.

The interview came with some interesting revelations that could give us a look into what’s in store from Kendrick. He spoke on needing inspiration for his albums and searching for a new sound.

“I spend the whole year just thinking about how I’m gonna execute a new sound, I can’t do the same thing over and over,” he explains to Keem. “I need something to get me excited.” He spoke on the pressure felt to execute his sophomore album, good kid, m.A.A.d City, while explaining why he’ll never make a sequel.

“I remember the sophomore jinx of good kid, m.A.A.d City; it was for that year and for that time,”he says. “I was in a different space in my life. I already knew off the top I can’t make good kid, m.A.A.d City Part Two. The second I’m making that, it’s corny bro. That takes the feeling away from the first. I need that muthafucka to live in its own world. Then boom, To Pimp A Butterfly. Some people love it to death, some people hate it.”

Kendrick finally broke his silence in the wake of the pgLang announcement. Early 2020 Kendrick announced a new creative company called pgLang in conjunction with from President of TDE Dave Free. The company announced one of its artists Baby Keem.

Baby Keem released a single “Hooligan” last month in what seems to be the first release under pgLang.

While Kendrick didn’t share specifics on a new album he spoke on the inspiration needed and his search for a new sound. All we can do is hope he finds that sound sooner than later and returns with a follow up to his 2017 album DAMN.

Be sure to keep listening to Dash Radio as you know we’ll have all the updates on pgLang and Kendricks new music.
