On Tuesday, March 2nd, Japanese Breakfast released a new single “Be Sweet” which is to be included on their new album Jubilee. Jubilee is the alternative rock band’s third album and is to be released on June 4th via Dead Oceans.
Along with the release of the track, “Be Sweet” was accompanied by a music video that features, Michelle Zauner, Japanese Breakfast’s lead singer, and Marisa Dabice, lead singer of Mannequin Pussy, as FBI agents.
The new single is quite upbeat which is different than some of Japanese Breakfast’s other music. Zauner talked about the upcoming album and new single saying, “After spending the last five years writing about grief, I wanted our follow-up to be about joy. For me, a third record should feel bombastic and so I wanted to pull out all the stops for this one. I wrote ‘Be Sweet’ with Jack Tatum from Wild Nothing a few years ago. I’ve been holding onto it for so long and am so excited to finally put it out there.”
