The Weeknd Joins Maluma for “Hawaii Remix”

Maluma has released the remix to his hit song “Hawài” this Thursday featuring the Weeknd. The remix treats fans to a Spanish singing Weeknd, with the singer’s vocals in perfect harmony with Maluma’s, and giving us the perfect combination of Reggaeton and the Weeknd.

The duo had just recently hinted at a possible collaboration when they both posted a photo together on their social media accounts.

The video for the “Hawài Remix” also came out directly with the release.

Speaking of the newly released remix, Maluma had nothing but praise for Abel.

“Bro, he killed it, because he’s a real artist,” Maluma told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “He’s a real artist, man, what he did in this song. For him, it was like he was doing reggaeton for his whole life. And I knew that his voice in the song could work amazing. And that’s what happened.”

Maluma continued, “At the beginning, when I listened to the first verse when he just started the song… I was like, ‘Bro, this sounds like The Weeknd’s song.’ I couldn’t believe how good it was mixing his vocals with my vocals. And man, yeah, I’m blessed. I’m very happy. This is a huge moment for the Latin culture though.”

As of Thursday, November 5th, “Hawái” has peaked at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100; now, with a Weeknd remix, it’s poised to gain more steam.

The Weeknd has also been keeping it busy with collaborations since the release of  “After Hours” back in just the beginning of quarantine. His latest of which is Ariana Grande’s song “Off the Table” from her new album Positions.

Kylie Minogue Releasing New Album Disco This Friday

Australian superstar and international sensation Kylie Minogue is back and will treat fans to a new album this Friday, November 6!

Minogue’s new album is titled “Disco”, and yes, you guessed it, it’s going to be Disco music, meaning we will probably be dancing to Kylie Minogue in 2021.

Having sold 70 million records worldwide, Minogue is the highest-selling female Australian artist of all time and has been recognized for reinventing herself in music and fashion, for which she is referred to by the European press as the “Princess of Pop” and a style icon. Her lengthy list of awards include a Grammy Award, three Brit Awards, and 17 ARIA Music Awards.

The Aussie just recently released the single for Disco, titled “I Love It”, on October 23rd. Mixing the groovy melody with lush strings and a punchy horn section, “I Love It”  almost proves Kylie Minogue could be the remedy for 2020.

In a new era that’s considered as the renaissance for Disco, Kylie Minogue’s new album, “Disco”, fits perfectly into the times and helps prove why Disco is one of the most timeless genres of all time.

Dave Grohl Overcomes His Coffee Addiction in Parody Commercial for FreshPotix

Dave Grohl, the lead singer of Foo Fighters, appears in a new spoof ad for FreshPotix, which is a fake wonder drug that helps those who are addicted to coffee get off of the caffeine-filled drink. The tagline for the drug is “It Works (kinda).”

The commercial opens with Dave Grohl talking about his many years of addiction to coffee, and how it has negatively impacted himself, his relationships, and the band. “My ability to maintain personal relationships and solid bowel movements were compromised by crippling sleep deprivation and noxious coffee breath. As the bean took over, I found myself doing anything for a fix,” Grohl explained.

The commercial shows him going through gradually stranger and stronger ways to satisfy his caffeine addiction. “My roast grew darker and darker until I finally hit pot bottom. I couldn’t be there for the ones I love when they needed me the most,” Grohl said in the parody. But then he found FreshPotix.

FreshPotix, the fake drug, comes with a long list of side effects though, including, “Extra Toe,” “Cyrusvirus,” which changes your voice to that of Billy Ray or Miley, “Violent Fits of Rage Towards Left-Handed People,” “Urge To Found Your Own Colony,” Oxford Commas,” and “Uncontrollable Tattling.”

The parody commercial comes in what seems to be a sequel to a video from 2010 called “Dave Grohl in FRESH POTS!,” which shows Grohl’s coffee addiction when in the studio with Them Crooked Vultures.

D-Aye Releases “Defeated Da Odds” (EP)

D-Aye made an immediate impact upon the release of “Hunnids,” which was produced by Zaytoven.  Support for that single was received by outlets like Power 106, Dash Radio, Traps N Trunks, and various other outlets.

During his interview with DJ Carisma for “Checc’d In” on Power 106’s morning show, Zaytoven shared that he loved working with D-Aye because “an artist like D-Aye knows how to rap over a Zay beat.”

The impact single for this EP, “Bullets Flying,” is produced by KashWantDa$wang and Cassius Jay (credits: Cardi B, Migos, Young Thug), and showcases D-Aye’s melodic cadence that got him recognized by Reckless Republic/Island Records.  D-Aye switches up between rapping and singing with ease, and his versatility is clearly evident.  Fearlessness is one word that accurately describes “Bullets Flying” which is what D-Aye is.

When speaking about the project, D-Aye says, “Being from Montgomery makes me feel great about the project because you don’t usually see an artist coming outta Montgomery signing to a major.  The city is fully behind me because they saw the groundwork that was put in over the years, and they know the story is authentic.”

Spanning six tracks in length, this was the perfect introduction for D-Aye to a now wider audience.  Stay tuned for some visuals to release as we close out the fourth quarter of an interesting 2020.

Incase you missed it D-Aye & Zaytoven joined us for an interview last month upon the release of “Hunnids” you can watch the interview below.

Kid Cudi Releases Teaser for Man on the Moon III

On Monday, October 26th, Kid Cudi released a teaser for his long-awaited Man on the Moon III. Cudi posted the teaser video along with the caption “THE TRILOGY CONTINUES…” on Twitter.

A montage of archived footage opens the teaser video, then moves to Cudi driving a car up to a scenic overlook. As he gets out of the car we hear what appears to be a bit of new music by the artist. Cudi then smokes while gazing up at the moon. Additional information regarding the release date and full title of the album was unfortunately not given in the video or by Kid Cudi.

The Man on the Moon series started back in 2009 with Kid Cudi’s debut album Man on the Moon: The End of Day. The following year Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager was released. The next couple of albums released by Kid Cudi were not involved with the Man on the Moon theme, except for his 2014 album Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon, which Cudi described as a prelude to Man on the Moon III.

Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’, Cudi’s most recent album, was released in 2016, and in 2018, he worked with Kanye West for Kids See Ghosts. “The Scotts,” with Travis Scott, and “The Adventures of Moon Man and Slim Shady,” with Eminem are the two songs that Kid Cudi has been a part of so far this year.
