AC/DC Releases Single “Shot In The Dark” Off Of New Album Power Up

Early Wednesday morning, October 7th, AC/DC released a new single “Shot In The Dark,” and announced a new album Power Up to be released November 13. It will be available in various formats, including a limited-edition deluxe “lightbox.”

In a Tweet, the band announced “‘SHOT IN THE DARK.’ THE NEW SINGLE OUT WEDNESDAY @ 12:00 AM NYC / 5:00AM LONDON / 3:00 PM SYDNEY. #PWRUP.”

The chorus of the song says “A shot in the dark / Make it feel alright / A shot in the dark / Run through the whole night / A shot in the dark… A shot in the dark beats a walk in the park.”

The single is the first track off of their forthcoming album. British singer Brian Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd reunite with the band for Power Up. Johnson had stepped aside in 2016 due to doctor’s orders regarding hearing-loss issues. Rudd had a stint in rehab.

The official announcement comes after an unexpected teaser last month with the band saying “ARE YOU READY? #PWRUP,” and revealed Johnson, Rudd, lead guitarist Angus Young, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, and bassist Cliff Williams as their line-up.

Angus Young told Rolling Stone “This record is pretty much a dedication to Malcolm, my brother. It’s a tribute for him like ‘Back in Black’ was a tribute to Bon Scott.”

AC/DC’s 2015 Rock or Bust, their last album, peaked at No. 3 in the U.S. and U.K. and No. 1 in Australia.
