Charli XCX’s New Documentary Alone Together Will Premiere at SXSW

English singer-songwriter Charli XCX is set to make waves in the upcoming weeks, as her documentary, Alone Together, is set to premiere at SXSW festival.

During the course of 2020, while a lot of people had a whole lot of excess time in their hands, Charli was one of the few to use that time for good. While she was busy working on her last album, how I’m feeling now, she utilized the assistance of directors Bradley & Pablo (who also directed her video for “2099”), to capture the process on tape. An LP and a documentary later, the film has found its way into the roster for this year’s SXSW film showcase.

“The documentary tells the story of not only the 5 week process surrounding the making of my album, how I’m feeling now, but also all the emotions that creating, connecting, and living in a quarantine and in basically a new world evokes for people across the globe,” Charli wrote in an Instagram post, adding that she’s not sure when the film will be released to the public but to “enjoy it when it does.”

SXSW or South By Southwest, colloquially known as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States.

This year’s event will take place on March 12th – 20th, and will be held virtually. You can check out the full line-up for the SXSW festival here.
